The Cancer Institute NSW is offering travel grants to support the professional development of Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) staff in New South Wales (NSW).

Program objective
These grants will enable CTU staff to attend two key conferences in 2025:
- ARCS Annual Conference 2025
- Australia-New Zealand Site Solutions Summit 2025 (SCRS).
The purpose of the Cancer Clinical Trials Unit Travel Grants is to:
- Support professional development and expand the knowledge of CTU staff in areas such as clinical trials, regulatory advancements, and operational best practices.
- Promote and foster collaboration between CTUs across NSW, enhancing the exchange of knowledge, sharing best practices, and strengthening the overall clinical trial network.
- Build interest and involvement in state and national clinical trial capability and capacity efforts, contributing to the growth of clinical research across NSW and beyond.
- Encourage attendance for regional NSW CTU staff at the ARCS Annual Conference, ensuring strong representation from regional areas and enhancing their access to industry-leading insights and networking opportunities.
This program is funded and administered by Cancer Institute NSW.
Eligibility
Funding Period
Successful applicants must use the funds to attend the ARCS conference on 3-5 June 2025 and/or the Australia-New Zealand Site Solutions Summit 2025 (22-23 July 2025). The funds will be paid to the Administering Institution in June 2025.
Eligible Use of Funds
Funds may be used for the following:
- travel expenses (e.g., flights, train fare, taxi charges to/from the airport)
- reasonable accommodation costs (up to three-star rating)
- per diem meal reimbursement (Breakfast = $33.90; Lunch is included; Dinner = $64.95)
- conference registration.
Daily accommodation and per diem funding requests may not exceed $358.90 per day.
Applicant Criteria
- Applicant must be from one of the NSW Health Local Health District, Specialty Network, or Private Clinical Trial Units.
- Applicants must be employed in a clinical, medical or academic capacity within the Clinical Trials Unit.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years' experience in the public (Local Health District) or private clinical trial sector.
- Applicants must reside in a regional location (for applicants applying for the ARCS conference).

Administering Institution Endorsement
Applicants must nominate the administering institution who will be responsible for the financial management of the grant and will sign a Terms and Conditions Letter. The Administering Institution must have in place policies and procedures for the administration of public funds.
At the time of grant application submission, an Endorsement Letter from the Administering Institution contact on letterhead must be included. This letter must confirm the following:
- The application is endorsed by the applicant’s Manager/Supervisor and Administering Institution.
- The applicant has not submitted any other travel grant applications in this grant round.
- The Administering Institution agrees to the Terms and Conditions of the travel grant.
- Any other information relevant for the application.

What your application needs to include
It is the responsibility of the Applicant and the Administering Institution to ensure that the application is complete and accurate prior to submission. All applications must include the following:
- Endorsement letter signed by applicant’s Supervisor/Manager
- Endorsement letter signed by applicant’s Administering Institution.
Address the assessment criteria
Applications will be reviewed based on the following:
- their experience in a clinical trial setting
- the potential benefit of attending the conference to their area of work.
The Cancer Institute NSW reserves the right to ensure broad representation from regions across the state.
After the application is submitted
Successful applications will be decided by: Cancer Institute NSW Chief Executive Officer
The applicant will receive a notification of receipt email within one business day of the application submission.
The applications will be assessed and both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified.
