Overview of this event
'Once, upon a mushroom' is a fungitale that stretches into the depths of the artist's vivid imagination, a place that is full of humour, fantasy and secret desire.
Mythical and mystical, like the many mushrooms that pop up within its pages, 'Once, upon a mushroom' celebrates the beauty and symbolism of fungi, documenting a hypercolour world in which spawn and spores have taken over the reins of power.
This exhibition is by Emma Anna. Emma Anna is an Australian-born artist and creative producer who lives and works between the East Coast of Australia and the Colombian Caribbean.
Emma's long-term collage project The New Old World (aka The N.O.W.) draws upon the influence of pop culture and media technologies, intersecting the 'old world' of lifestyle publications, travel guides and lo-fi graphic applications with the 'new world' of digital technologies.
Emma is the founder and curator of Todo Loco, a bi-annual exhibition of international collage, and the Founder and Creative Director of Cut X Paste (Instagram @cut_x_paste) an international community of collage makers and the collage curious.
In 2020 Emma was selected to be the World Collage Day poster artist by Ric Kasini Kadour, editor of Kolaj Magazine, an opportunity that greatly increased her profile in the international collage community.
